Downtown Mooresville's Public Lots Now Close to Overnight Parking From 2 to 6 a.m.
Since Oct. 1, the Town of Mooresville has been towing cars left overnight in three downtown public lots, including the Charles Mack Citizen Center back lot and the Liberty Park lot. One lot and street parking are still open overnight.

If you head to downtown Mooresville for dinner or a show and leave the car behind for the night, where you parked now matters. The Town of Mooresville started enforcing an overnight parking rule in three downtown public lots on Thursday, Oct. 1.
What changed
Parking is no longer allowed between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. in these lots:
- The Charles Mack Citizen Center back lot, both the upper and lower levels, entered from Church Street
- The public lot off Church Street between Moore Avenue and Center Avenue
- The Liberty Park lot, entered from Iredell Avenue
Vehicles left in those lots during those hours are subject to enforcement and towing, according to the town's announcement.
Where you can still park overnight
- The public lot at the corner of Church Street and Iredell Avenue stays open overnight.
- On street parking downtown is still allowed overnight.
So if you plan to take a ride home after a night out on Main Street, the simplest move is to leave the car in the Church and Iredell lot or on the street, not in the Citizen Center or Liberty Park lots.
Downtown workers
Businesses whose employees regularly work past 2 a.m. will get special passes so staff can park in the affected lots during the enforcement window. The town's notice does not say how businesses apply, so owners should contact the town directly.
Why the town did it
The town says the rule came out of several months of talks with Mill One, the Mooresville Downtown Commission, and downtown business owners, and that their feedback shaped the plan. The notice does not give a detailed reason beyond that.
What we could not confirm
The announcement does not list a fine amount, a towing fee, a warning period, or which board approved the rule and when. If you want those details, or a parking pass for your business, reach the town through its Contact Us page or at Town Hall, 413 N. Main St., Mooresville.
